I've been picking on Pennsyltucky quite a bit (yeah, I know...low hanging fruit) and today a caller asked why am I busting on their drivers since Maryland drivers are so bad. Here goes...
First, Maryland drivers vary. Baltimore drivers are different than Eastern Shore drivers, who drive differently than Waldorf drivers.... Not that any of them are great. The one thing that I see that they all share is that most don't use their turn signals. It's dangerous and basically inconsiderate. You can be at a 4-way, or waiting for a parking spot, and no turn signal... Back to PA: What I've noticed is that if a PA driver is on a 3 lane road, they will not budge from the right lane to let someone merge. They also don't know how to merge after tolls, or any kind of "yield" is just not understood. The reason is probably that the roads up their in the 'Tucky barely have a merge lane, so they just don't get it. Delaware: Slow! That car that is in the left lane going exactly 55MPH, always Delaware. They won't move either. You can tailgate, beep, it doesn't matter. Virginia - If someone is going to hit you in a crosswalk, it's a VA driver. No patience. They also don't know how to turn. A VA driver will stop in the middle of the road to make a right turn, seriously. The most annoying thing about VA drivers has to be the constant tapping of the breaks. Break lights are always lighting up for no apparent reason. This is crazy annoying when you are stuck in traffic. Tap tap tap... New Jersey: They drive crazy fast and also don't use the turn signal. Similar to MD drivers, but a bit more reckless. NY: NYC drivers outside of NYC just drive slow. Long Island drivers are aggressive slow drivers. You can be going down a road at 55 MPH with no one behind you, and if a car pulls out in front of you going half the speed that you were going, it's a LI driver. When I go back to LI, I find myself flying past the drivers because they drive so slow.
That's my take on the drivers that I am around often... Now you can understand my radio rants!
